I’m a sucker for getting free stuff (or discounted deals), sort of. Recently I completed all my 2-year payments for 2 old devices (iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro – Max) from T-Mobile (which I also got for free, switching from AT&T and they covered all the device balance). When I was shopping for the phones, the T-Mobile website mentions get the new iPhone 15 on them when you add a line or with a qualifying trade-in. Sure, why not? But, what’s the catch? Well, I’m on the Magenta Max plan, which is a $35 per line rate plan (you can visit this site which compares the plan). After talking to customer service, it gave me the rundown of getting discounted magenta max plan for 5 lines. Then to get the free phones, I would need to switch to Go5G next plus and for some reason, it would bring my phone bill down. Again, why not?
Anyways, you can get the phones in 3 ways: in person/in store, T-Mobile online, or apple online. For this, I will share the online trade-in options, which results in two different deals on both trade in value for your old phone.
In T-Mobile they offer $830 trade-in device credit which covers the entire device cost.
For some reason, when you buy on T-Mobile online, you get the 830 but it calculates it differently.
On T-Mobile online store, I would end up paying $19.58 per month for 24 months in my bill.
But if you do it on Apple Store Online, you would end up paying only $8.30 for 2 years.
Difference: iPhone 15 Pro
Note: you will get the $300 trade in value as a T-Mobile bill credit, while in Apple store, you get the trade-in value $445 instantly. Technically you will save $30 if you buy in T-Mobile vs Apple. The difference here is that you will have a lower monthly bill if you buy it in Apple Vs T-Mobile. If you prefer have lower reflected bill, then you can choose to buy in Apple Store.
For iPhone 15, is free if you buy them on either online store.
In T-Mobile store, the $300 that you will get in your bill, then you will need pay them monthly. I know, its weird how T-Mobile does it.
One thing I noticed when I received my devices, is when you buy on Apple Online then picked them up in a Apple Store, the device will be unlocked.
The yellow iPhone was purchased on T-Mobile while the black iPhone was purchased on Apple online.
